Hanna Brothers Ranch: A Model of Agricultural Efficiency and Sustainability in Siskiyou County

Three generations of the Hanna Brothers Ranch gather daily for lunch, sharing time together and collaborating on the shared goals of their multi-generational ranch in Siskiyou County.

Grant Hanna, of the Hanna Brothers Ranch, recently applied for the Pacific Power Agriculture Incentives Program, a subsidiary of their Wattsmart Business Program. The assistance from Pacific Power allowed the Hanna Brothers Ranch to invest in important upgrades, including the installation of moisture sensors and Low Emission Precision Application (LEPA) sprinklers for their irrigation pivots.

Hanna applied for the program and advocates for its user-friendly application process and overall benefits to his operation. “My experience applying for the program was easy and the program manager was very helpful,” he said. Hanna learned about the Irrigation Equipment Incentives Program through the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) office.

The initiative offers direct financial support to farmers and ranchers to adopt more energy-efficient technologies and practices, contributing to a more resource-conscious, efficient, and financially sustainable solution to rising energy costs in agriculture.By offering financial assistance for essential upgrades, the program helps local agricultural operations improve their efficiency and reduce water use in an increasingly restrictive regulatory environment.

Hanna’s positive experience underscores the value of the Agriculture Incentives Program for Siskiyou County farmers and ranchers. “The incentive program has helped the efficiency of our operation through water savings. I would recommend this program to any producer who would like financial assistance in improving efficiency with their irrigation methods,” he said.

Pacific Power’s Irrigation Equipment Incentives Program is part of its broader efforts to promote energy efficiency and sustainability. For more information about the program, including eligibility and application details, visit Pacific Power’s Agriculture Incentives page.
