2020 By the Numbers
The Siskiyou EDC expresses gratitude to our businesses and communities who persevered through the challenges and opportunities brought by 2020. Our work starts with our commitment to unite jurisdictions to pursue economic strategies together. The result is healthier cities, new businesses and long-term, resilient growth for all regions in Siskiyou County.
A few 2020 highlights include:
Provided 700 businesses with direct services to assist with sector growth and expansion.
Closely assisted 200 small business center clients with strategies and funding to address COVID-19 impacts.
Leveraged 15+ million in funding to serve businesses effected by the pandemic.
Encouraged local jurisdictions to combine efforts and apply for $900,000 in CDBG CV Business Assistance funds to benefit moderate and low income businesses starting in 2021.
Distributed several thousand state-allocated surgical masks and containers of hand sanitizer to Siskiyou small businesses through the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (CalOES).

Selected by the Northern Rural Training and Employment Consortium (NoRTEC) to oversee a regional sector strategy benefiting tourism businesses in Southern Oregon and Northern California.
Released the Discover Siskiyou Podcast to amplify Siskiyou County experiences when stay-at-home orders were lifted and people ventured further from home. The podcast highlights destination-worthy experiences with a focus on local gastronomy and outdoor recreation.
Completed 5 Brownfield Environmental Phase 1 Site Assessments, resulting in cleaner, safer, healthier cities, and new business and developments.
The Siskiyou EDC and the City of Yreka secured $250,000 in CDBG funds for architectural plans and permitting to support the revitalization of the Carnegie Library.
Applied for and was awarded a USDA FMPP Grant to develop an online marketplace for local producers to sell locally sourced food. The platform is currently in development, with an anticipated launch date of Spring 2022.
Leveraged $20,000 in CFNS and TFFF funding to assist the region’s Farmers Markets with COVID-19 response and market match for eligible residents.
Convened TFFF and leaders from every region to complete a virtual workshop series on storytelling to build stronger communities.
We thank our partners who continue to support Siskiyou County businesses and communities. We are proud to work together to make Siskiyou County one of California’s best places to live, work and visit.
